چکیده

This paper proposes a new notation for kinematic structures which allows a unified description of serial, parallel, and hybrid robots or articulated machine tools. During the past decades, the well-known Denavit-Hartenberg parameters have been used widely to describe serial kinematics of robots in science and industry. Till now, such a common notation for parallel manipulators has not yet been accepted. This paper tries to fill this gap by presenting a new notation, which is based on the graph representation known from gear trains. In parallel manipulators, spherical and cardan joints are widely used. In order to describe these kinds of joints, the wellknown DHparameter notation has been extended, so that, to each joint as many joint variables can be assigned as degrees of freedom exist. The notation is not only very useful for design, programming, and simulation of parallel robots; it also can be applied as a convention to refer to parallel or hybrid kinematic structures elsewhere.

Design and Kinematic Analysis of a 4-DOF Serial-Parallel Manipulator for a Driving Simulator

This paper presents the kinematic analysis and the development of a 4-degree-of-freedom serial-parallel mechanism for large commercial vehicle driving simulators. The degrees of freedom are selected according to the target maneuvers and the structure of human motion perception organs. Several kinematic properties of parallel part of the mechanism under study are investigated, including the inve...

Unified Kinetostatics for Serial, Parallel and Mobile Robots

This paper summarizes the description of the statics and velocity kinematics of serial, parallel and mobile robots, based on the fundamental concepts of twists and wrenches, reciprocity, the “selectively non-reciprocal screw,” and “kinematic dualities.” This approach leads to a simplified since unified treatment of serial, parallel and mobile robot kinematics (which robotics textbooks lack) and...

Kinematic Mapping and Forward Kinematic Problem of a 5-DOF (3T2R) Parallel Mechanism with Identical Limb Structures

The main objective of this paper is to study the Euclidean displacement of a 5-DOF parallel mechanism performing three translation and two independent rotations with identical limb structures-recently revealed by performing the type synthesis-in a higher dimensional projective space, rather than relying on classical recipes, such as Cartesian coordinates and Euler angles. In this paper, Study's...

A Hybrid Neural Network Approach for Kinematic Modeling of a Novel 6-UPS Parallel Human-Like Mastication Robot

Introduction we aimed to introduce a 6-universal-prismatic-spherical (UPS) parallel mechanism for the human jaw motion and theoretically evaluate its kinematic problem. We proposed a strategy to provide a fast and accurate solution to the kinematic problem. The proposed strategy could accelerate the process of solution-finding for the direct kinematic problem by reducing the number of required ...

Active Suspension System in Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicles

In previous studies, active suspension system in conventional powertrain systems was investigated. This paper presents the application of active suspension system in parallel hybrid electric vehicles as a novel idea. The main motivation for this study is investigation of the potential advantages of this application over the conventional one. For this purpose, a simultaneous simulation is develo...
